Prince William, Duke of Cambridge - Cousins everywhere ...

Prince William, Duke of Cambridge is my 5th cousin twice removed. Princess Diana's mother Francis Burke Roche (1936-2004) was my 5th cousin - she and I have our 4 x Great Grandparents in common, JOHN BROWNELL (1728-1806) and his wife ELIZABETH FOER (1732-1806), but there I am stuck. I have checked the official royal lists, and although it names John and Elizabeth, it provides nothing further back. Has anyone out there any further information about these two or their forebears? In The Times last year there was a royal family tree that had several of my ancestors in it, and linked back to ancestors in India, but I don't know how these would have fitted in - I haven't checked that out yet. Any hints are welcome.

There a person, Anders Hansson (MacDonald). According to his Profile he was born "1600-something", next is Angus Og MacDonald of the Isles, who is said to be his father, but according to his Profile he was born "1200-something". I didn´t check who is responsible for these two Profiles & I also didn´t check if there´s faults somewhere else too, but it has to be corrected...

Yup, cousins everywhere... Prince William is my 11th cousin on Diana's side and 13th cousin on Charles side. This means that (assuming most people had only 2 children each) that there are around 4,096 other 11th cousins out there. At 15th cousin level there are around 65,000 other cousins out there in the world. Go back around 33 generations and the whole of the Western World is descended e.g. Emperor Charlemagne. Nevertheless, interesting stuff.

HI Bevan Robert, you and Diana are my 12th cousins! Charlemagne is my 33rd GG but I can also trace back to Cyrus the Great who is my 76th GG.

While you at it why not go all the way back to Patriarch Abraham? Then you're only a few generations away from Adam and Eve themselves.... assuming you believe in Biblical genealogy of course.... :)

It happens sometimes. Can be quite annoying. Geni seems to work out the route based on your recent activity. So of course you will have hundreds of potential routes back to your 129th GG. Geni will pick the one it finds based on your recent searches, not always the one you might like the best.... Would be nice if there was a setting to force routes based on direct grandparents and not cousins etc.

God Almighty is my 88th GG - gues my ancestors must have had long lives... lineage descends via Prophet Muhammad on the Muslim side from Abraham (as does most of Scottish and English royalty) to the Emirs of Cordoba (the cradle of civilisation before the Enlightenment) then to the Kings of Castile & Leon (hugely important for Templars and Crusaders, and Portuguese explorers of the world), then to the English Royals (Lancasters, Yorks and Tudors involved in the Wars of the Roses etc.), then to some Scottish Earls and then to plain old me.
