to many persons here I have links from several sides and geni shows im the way -they wish to show, for example
before I found link to Queen Elizabeth II
the link to her husband was only 15 persons:
Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh is valentina v. golubeva's fifth cousin once removed's ex-husband's third cousin (15 persons)
and now, after I found link toQueen Elizabeth II ,
geni shows linkk to him through his wife for 30 persons:

the same case happened 20 minutes ago,
estonian relative added some persons to our tree, I got notification, but when I try to look through the link, I get link to that people thorugh my Saint-Petersburg relatives,
again- I have links to that persons from both sides and can look only what geni shows its own way:(((

As people enter more relatives, it may change the path. Geni does not automatically update the path because it takes a lot of resources (computer time) to do so. You can manually update the path by pressing the two arrows forming a circle that appears after the relationship line. Since it does take a lot of resources, users are limited to how long between the presses that is allowed.
If the arrows are not present, then it is not available and you have to wait for another day.

Hi Per Anders Dencker - greetings from South Africa! Let me try to answer your question about cousin 'numbers' and 'removed's' as I understand it. When two people have the same grandparents they are first cousins. When two people have the same great grandparents they are second cousins. When two people have the same great great grandparents they are third cousins, and so on. With regard to 'removed' I can explain it with a simple example: my late cousin John has a daughter. John and I have the same grandparents (on the one side). We are first cousins, as I have said. His daughter would be my 'first cousin once removed'. If she has a child that child would be my 'first cousin twice removed'. It is clear that the 'removed' term refers to generations, in a certain sense. I hope this helps!

Per Anders Dencker - to add to my attempt to explain I want to use a further good example: Bjørn Brox is my 22nd cousin thrice removed. There are 24 generations between me and our most recent common ancestor. In Bjørn's case there are 27 generations between him and our most recent common ancestor. The difference between 27 and 24 is three - and that's where the 'thrice removed' comes from!

A just as a matter of interest: Ragnar 'Lodbrok' Sigurdsson is my 33rd great grandfather. Does that make me a honorary Dane? :-)

If by the word "link", you mean the path, you have to manually press it. The path is what uses a lot of computer resources so Geni doesn't automatically do one for all profiles.
