Aisha Tyler has recently begun appearing in the tree as a descendant of Roger Brooke Taney, 5th Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court. I'm not finding anything to support this. Can someone help verify or disprove?

The 'connection' was put in place by Aisha's great-aunt (pinned Aisha, then looked at who was adding the profiles, through an adoptive relationship, up to a 2nd unknown wife of Roger Taney).

That great-aunt's account was active in September ... maybe ask her?

Hi, Sheila Gregory Thomas! I'm trying to figure out the connection between Aisha Tyler and Roger Taney (see above)...is this a family story, or are there records we can add to these profiles establishing the relationship?

Hi Ashley Odell - sorry it has taken me so long to reply. May I ask how you are connected?

The question, Sheila Gregory Thomas, is not how Ashley is connected, but as to the validity of the path between Aisha Tyler and Roger Brooke Taney, as currently shown by this path:

https://www.geni.com/path/Aisha-Tyler+is+related+to+Roger-Taney-Chi...

In particular, between Fannie (Fannie Emma Gregory) and the added unknown 2nd wife of Roger Taney, mother of NN Mohammett; there is currently little to shown to support that "pathway".

Ms. Odell and Mr. Cornett: I am not sure how you reached the conclusion that Ms. Gregory Thomas had established the connection -- I sometimes find it difficult to track revisions -- but I think I am actually the one who first traced the Gregory's back to Taney within Geni. (I created him as a separate node; it was only much later merged into the famous one that Mr. Cornett curates.) You can find sourcing for the connection in the family members I still control, including NN Mohammett and Margaret A. Hagen, citing the Frontline piece inter alia.

For the record, as I created the link, it was not a 2nd wife but merely the slave mother of his child. I do not know who changed it nor why but do not seem able to undo the error.

Thank you for pointing to the cited sources, Private User ! At the time Ashley raised the question, I had looked primarily as the 'unknown' wife of Judge Taney (which was added by Ms Thomas and had no cited Sources) and at Fannie Emma Gregory (which has an adoptive relationship) -- and also did not (& currently does not) have any Source citations nor text in the About.

You will note that I added a couple of citations from the Frontline article for Ann Arnold Phoebe Charlton Taney and re-did a couple of the citations for Margaret & Jane (to show values as contained in that document ... use "View Facts" on the Sources tab to see how the current profile fields match against the facts in the source document as was placed in the Note field when making the citation).

(FYI for all ... see here for more on citing documents against profile fields: https://www.geni.com/blog/geni-tips-how-to-add-sources-to-profiles-...)

Again, thank you, for the excellent source documents (and apologies for skipping past the profiles which *did* have those sources). There certainly are a lot more facts in those documents which could be cited against more Geni profiles.
