North American sources report the mother of this original New France colonist was Jeanne Millet, the name he gave when he married in New France 1708. Actually, she was his foster mother. He was bapt in St Saturnin parish, Vienne District, Blois France 27 Feb 1674 son of Antoine Fissiau and Denise Louasseau (usually Loisseau) who were married in that parish25 Jun 1635. Denise was buried as a widow on 2 Dec 1682 and Antoine died 1679-80-some pages are missing in the church records. So Jacques was 8 years old and a relative, I believe aunt, became his foster mother. There was no such thing as adoption. Further proof is the marriage record of J's sister Anne in ca 1690 (exact year not at hand) She then stated her parents deceased were Antoine F and Denise L (Note wives did not take the husband's last name) At her wedding was "uncle" Millet- I think brother of Jeanne. There had been a number of marriages among the Millets and Loiseaus. At time her parents died, Ann was 18, so perhaps had no foster mother or didn't feel as close to one as her brother Jacques. I have made several postings on this in ancestry.com I have copies of the pertinent Mormon film strip on the above events if you will ask me. All records in North America are off on this, but I did notify Francogene/Drouin for their files.
