I believe Alfred was born in Range Township, Madison County, Ohio vs Madison, Lake County, Ohio. This is based on his Civil War enlistment document and mention of "Dr Clarke" (most likely Elias Clark, MD , father of Alfred H.) as an early physician in Madison County historical publications.
