Lloyd Hornbostel married Dorothy in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Lloyd accepted a job with Beloit Corporation in Beloit, WI just before their marriage in Pittsburgh. In Beloit, Dorothy and Lloyd raised their twin boys, Lloyd Jr. and Rogers Hornbostel. Lloyd's father, Henry (changed name to Henry after World War I) designed two homes for the family. Henry was a well-known architect, working primarily on the East Coast. He designed the original Emory University campus and the original Carnegie Tech campus. Henry also designed a home for himself in Melbourne Beach, Florida. He later designed a home for Lloyd and Dorothy to which they retired. Lloyd Jr.'s family then moved into the family home in Beloit, on Emerson St., also designed by Henry. Lloyd and Lloyd Jr. both worked at Beloit Corporation.
