The son of Giles died in Barnstable but not in 1718. That death date was a different William Hopkins who was married to Rebecca Havens and died in Shelter Island, Long Island, New York. We don't know that man's parents.

Giles Hopkins' will is on line. It's easy to see that his son William was unable to care for himself. We don't know when Giles' son died.

We don't know that William of Eastham was even alive in April 1690. That was when Giles' will was entered into probate. I believe the last time we see son Williiam mentioned anywhere is in the will that was written 1682. Only son Stephen is mentioned in the codocil dated March 5, 1688
