Son George Henry Cory Death Notice lists her name as Christiana Letitia Cory:

George Henry Cory (above) named his daughter Christina Sophia Letitia Marais (Cory) after his mother?

Son Paul Peter John Cory Death Notice lists her name as Christiana Sophia Letitia Cory:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS92-69J4-R?i=374&...

Her own Death Notice lists her name as Christiana Sophia Letita Cory born Coetser:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSQF-M31R-7?i=6&ca...

Also mentions her parents as Gert and Christiana Coetser (yes, Death Notices are prone to errors).

Only references I've found to Christina Sophia Aletta Cory is:

Hi Drummond-it's tricky as Englishmen often recorded Dutch names their own way-Nell instead of Nel in my family. Worst case is Wewege instead of Viviers, which stuck! My Naude grandmother's name was Christina, clearly after her grandmother Christina Coetser(English spelling again-other form is Coetzer). Christiana is possibly the old form. Also spelling was a bit flexible in those times and many rural Afrikaners were barely literate.

I'd like to figure this out as, at the moment, Christina Sophia Letitia Coetser is one of 21 children born to Christina Josena Johanna Coetser. Seems implausible? There are only 7 children mentioned on her Death Notice and no mention of Louis Abraham Francois Slabbert.

Think some are duplicates. Some of my information came from a Coetzer website. Christina Cory was sister of Christina Johanna Naude if I remember right. Methodist records show Gert Coetser(possibly Boer general) as their father.

Removed connection between Christina Sophia Letitia Cory and Louis Abraham Francois Slabbert (as his wife passed away in 1849, he survived her and died in 1853) i.e. not Christiana Sophia Letitia Coetser's mother. Bad merge.

Also removed the relationship between John Newhouse Cory & Sophia Aletta Coetser, as Christina Sophia Letitia Coetser's DN mentions her parents as Gert & Christiana Coetser.

Great stuff. At least the Methodist marriage record tallies with DN as to Gert & Christiana being the parents. BTW GF's incredibly strong grip caused tablet touchscreen to become damn near useless-4th trip to Pakistani repair shop on horizon. And one of the dogs ate my last operational headphones? I should work for gadget makers testing their wages to destruction..

Hi Alistair, I'd love to see the Methodist marriage record. I found a DN that I believe to be for Christiana Sophia Letitia's mother: https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSQ6-G3YS-S?i=2008&amp...

This DN doesn't mention Christiana Sophia Letitia Cory (Coetser) though. Note: DN is from 1876 though and I believe Christiana died in 1873. May be because she had pre-deceased her mother; something I've seen before.

It mentions 7 children, one of whom is No 5. Martha Botha. If this is Martha Etheresa/Etresia, she was married to Stephanus Petrus Naude and later Marthinus Johannes Botha. She had a daughter to Stephanus Petrus Naude named Catharina Magdalena Ackerman. Her husband? Jan Simon Ackerman. Brother of Dina Maria Regina Els i.e. mother of Jan (John) Simon Els who marries Christina Johanna Els.

We know the three families (Cory, Els, Ackerman) are closely connected i.e. I'm fairly certain this is the correct Christina Josina Johanna Fouche.

My son loves playing with his mother's iPad, so I bought one of these Koosh cases: http://www.cases4kids.com.au/koosh-ipad.php - it's the single most indestructible thing I've ever purchased and has saved the iPad on numerous occasions. Investment?

Fixed two Coetser marriages for you. Two brothers Paulus Petrus Johannes Coetser and Pieter Schalk Coetser. You had Pieter's wife as Paul's wife. I swapped it around for you and uploaded supporting documentation. We're making progress now. Very confident we've got the right Coetsers now.

Check out David Buchroeder's Coetzer tree online-his research seems pretty rigorous. Methodist marriages on Rootsweb-think I just signed up. My copies on tablet & PC..both inoperable now. Els family also connected to Naudes-Renier Chtistiaan seems to be a common name set-duplicated among a branch of the Naudes. Actually did some work for a Dr Naude-forget her name, but also Anglo & definite resemblance to my one sister who looks most like our Naude grandmother.. Not bitten by genealogy bug at the time, but was already aware that we must have been cousins. Can still see her face clearly in my head.but name won't pop up..Friend of Facebook friend,so must look her up!
