Currently (04 Sep 2016) Diederik is connected to Katharina van Wyk as per SAG? but Johanna Catharina van Wyk , her mother's inventory http://databases.tanap.net/mooc/main_article.cfm?id=MOOC8%2F6%2E109a by 8 June 1746 makes no mention of a surviving Catharina van Wijk at the time.

The Catharina van Wijk who was married to Diederik Koekemoer died some time after (by 19 January 1747) as can be seen on her inventory http://databases.tanap.net/mooc/main_article.cfm?id=MOOC8%2F6%2E114

Both Richard Ball http://www.ballfamilyrecords.co.uk/kfp/I196.html and The First Fifty Years Project http://www.e-family.co.za/ffy/g9/p9201.htm have this Catharina van Wyk, a2b1c3 Catharina van Wijk as Diederik's spouse.

Regards,
Dirk

Really? That's interesting & important.
Let's let all the managers involved see and comment, and then I'll change it Dirk. (Remind me in a day or two, if it hasn't been done.)

Will do ;)

Private User you added the one profile, and Curate on the other- so I don't want to proceed without your input.

Private you manage on the third.

Sharon Doubell I will just look it up in the CD of TANAP as well as the Campher book. Will come back now.

Dirk I agree with you. I look at the two inventories as well as the Cape People written and research by Dr. Helena Liebenberg and came to the same conclusion. I also though maybe the daughter have died.
It is quite possible that an incorrect merge were done by someone just looking at the fisrt names as they are in both ladies and gents the same.
Judi

Although if you look at this of her father under sources
https://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000016736456013&
she was b3 and the d.o. Ari van Wyk and Agnita Campher born 3rd and was 15 when the father died.
Also under sources is her baptism record were the parents are the same.
So I do think that we can say she is the child of Ari and Agnita and born 3rd.
Lea Herbst did a very thorough research on the van Wyk family and the proof was excepted that the numering and SAF(G) is incorect. Dirk just have a look at the sources supplied.
Regards
Judi

Please also see all the sources under Diederik Koekemoers profile.

Please Dirk Cornelius le Roux feel free to correct - there was a merge recently which may have caused the problem. I have always maintained the van Wijk in line with Richard Balls most excellent tree - the best reference there is for the family.

I'm not sure that Dirk has the tools to swap the profiles around. Yell if I'm needed to do it. I'd just prefer that you two are good with the swap.

I take it then that consensus prevails that the Catharina van Wijk daughter of Arij van Wijk was married to Diederik Koekemoer.

Judi, your "although" does refer to the daughter of Arij van Wijk, who Richard Ball and Delia agree was Diederik's wife. So I do not see a problem there.

Private User I do not mind to correct the tree but moving the sources (record of marriage to Diederik, as well as estate inventory of Deiderik's wife) are beyond my competence to move from Katharina van Wyk to Catharina van Wyk, a2b1c3 . This will need one of you to help.

Dirk

I'll do it tomorrow morning Dirk - heading towards Cinderella hour here.

Thanks Sharon!

The problem appears to possibly lie with the father profiles:
Curator Note from Lea Herbst (31/5/2012) on Willem van Wijk
"Willem van Wyk (Willemsz) a2b6 married Anna (Johanna) Catharina Campher & Hendrina Monk.
Willem van Wyk a1b1c3 was not married to Anna (Johanna) Catharina Campher and Hendrina Monk.
SAG has both women married to both of the Willem van Wyk's."

Private User?

Okay, please check. I've removed the DVN from the suffix - they were confusing the issue.
I've also locked & taken over Curatorship while I'm disentangling. Please take back Curatorship & unlock once everyone's checked that the line is the way you want it to be.

We now have:
1.Katharina van Wyk
Katharina van Wijk ( bap 2 January 1729)
Parents Willem van Wijk (b b 31 Jul 1703 -d. c 1756) & Johanna Catharina Campher (b. b 19 Jun 1707 - d. c 1746)
This is NOT the same Catherina van Wyk who married Diederik Koekemoer.

This, however, contradicts the extant profile notes:
"b6 Willem, burger v. Drakenstein x Drakenstein (Paarl) 2.1.1729 Johanna Catharina CAMPHER ≈ Stellenbosch 19.6.1707 d.v. Cornelis Campher en Dorothea Oelofse xx 30.8.1746 Hendrina MONK * c. 1729 ≈ 30.10.1729 d.v. Andries Monk en Aletta Gerritse (sy xx 25.5.1756 Johannes Hendrik Maritz)

c1 Catharina * c. 1728 ≈ Drakenstein (Paarl) 2.1.1729 x 19.4.1744 Diederik KOEKEMOER ≈ Drakenstein (Paarl) 19.7.1716, burger v. Drakenstein s.v. Joachim Koekemoer en Maria Putter (hy xx 10.4.1774 Elizabeth Johanna Wagenaar)

She was baptised at the same church service at which her parents were married and was held on her mother's arm in order to make her legitimate. This is a custom recorded several times in the Drakenstein church registers"

I think they're yours, Private User - & I suspect were put there before you discovered the SAG error?

Sharon Doubell Lea Herbst had a burglary and her computers and everything was stolen.
She is waiting for the insurance to pay out so she can replace.
Judi

Hi Dirk,
That is the way I see it.
Richard Ball's research are very accurate.
Regards/Groete
Judi

Okay - hopefully she'll see this then. Can you look and see where you think this comes from? SAG?
"b6 Willem, burger v. Drakenstein x Drakenstein (Paarl) 2.1.1729 Johanna Catharina CAMPHER ≈ Stellenbosch 19.6.1707 d.v. Cornelis Campher en Dorothea Oelofse xx 30.8.1746 Hendrina MONK * c. 1729 ≈ 30.10.1729 d.v. Andries Monk en Aletta Gerritse (sy xx 25.5.1756 Johannes Hendrik Maritz)

c1 Catharina * c. 1728 ≈ Drakenstein (Paarl) 2.1.1729 x 19.4.1744 Diederik KOEKEMOER ≈ Drakenstein (Paarl) 19.7.1716, burger v. Drakenstein s.v. Joachim Koekemoer en Maria Putter (hy xx 10.4.1774 Elizabeth Johanna Wagenaar)

I think the Overviews need to be cleaned up now. I did Diederik Koekemoer, but I'd like help with the rest as I'm losing the thread of the work on French Huguenots I was doing before this, and there are lots of managers and Curators here to help.

Sharon Doubell I am nearly ready to log off as I am also working on Genesis and with Lea's problems with the theft, it is difficult.
But I am sure - if you remind me- I will be able to help tomorrow.☺
