Thomas Cogan - Birthdate and father's death date

I noticed the birth of Thomas Cogan is listed as 1428 and his father John Cogan's death is listed as 1412.

Anybody have any thoughts I what might need some adjusting here?

The will for John Cogan the father was dated 15 June 1412 and proved 26 August 1412.

The only family members he mentions in the will are his wife Agnes and son John.
