Hi Susan, no one on Geni has ever mentioned making a name index and i know the author did not make one but i am not sure that it would be an efficient use of your time.
Actually with the bride and groom being linked to the project page the project profiles page, https://www.geni.com/projects/New-Amsterdam-Marriages-1639-1674/peo... , acts as a defacto name index (you can even sort alphabetically by surname) of the people identified so far
The objective of the project was "Guidance
The main objective is to identify every partner in these marriage records. We attach the profile of identified partners as 'project profiles'..."
Which has been going slowly :) If you want to get involved with linking people to the project that would be good.
don't forget to verify with {{icn–check.gif}} once the profile has been added tot he project... It's not so hard... Getting the hang of it just takes a few trials.
1)While on a profile page, add the profile to the project
2) copy the profile url once updated
3) go back to the project, add the url in brackets, and put the green check mark in place
[ url ''' (pre-existing name ) ''' ] {{icn_check.gif}}
the form can be seen in the edit mode if you get confused... :)
