Annis? Hearn (Annis?) - Correct name?

Annis is generally a first name. This looks to me as if the information got entered twice but should only be in tje first name field. Her last name at ger birth is unknown.

Thanks for the input Anne. I am the one who put this name in twice on my Geni account, hoping that someone would be able to correct it definitely. I actually have a friend whose last name is Annis, so when I got the original info it just was not clear if this was a first or maiden name.

Oops--I should have asked--do you have this person in your own database? Do you know for sure it is a first name?

And it is possible that Annis is a surname, but it's more commonly a first name.

It is sometimes spelled Annice.

I can't find her, though, in the ancestry.com records, except in the web trees with no sources, AND no clear stating of first or last name.

Given all this, I myself would put Annus in the first name field, and hold myself in waiting for any new information!

Yes--I think you're right and I've removed this from her birth surname field. Will leave the comment and question however because I'm hoping to get help from people (like you) who are paying attention. Thanks for your help with this.

She isn't too far away in time. Birth certificate, marriage licence, might show up.
