From Woodman Mark Lowes Dickinson, OBE:
===================================
Did he really marry Henrietta Stuart? I think, on balance, not, and that she was the wife of another William Morgan (perhaps from the same area; even the sheep seem to have been called Morgan around there).

Sir William's History of Parliament bio mentions only two wives. The first wife, Elizabeth, married him c. 1587 and bore him nine or ten children. At one a year this would mean that his "sons" by Henrietta Stuart were impossible, unless illegitimate (and the history of parliament series often picks up illegitimate children). His second wife, Bridget, married him in 1610 and died in 1611 (presumably in child-birth; this means the birthdate for Anthony has to be brought forward a few years, and Anthony's "sister", Mary Farmer, has to find a new father and mother. After his death there was a dispute over the will between Anthony and his eldest half-brother. If there was a third marriage, with children, why didn't they join in?

I see that at least one of Henrietta's children, John, was an emigrant to Massachussetts. I fear that his ancestry is another one of the late nineteenth-century/early twentieth century fakes in which Massachussetts seems to specialise.

I agree with Mark. Most sources state he had two wives not three.

Henrietta Stuart seems to have come from the unreliable and unsourced website http://www.tudorplace.com.ar

The HOP bio's are much better quality and well sourced enough to trust most of the time.

Happy to disconnect if Terry Jackson (Switzer) agrees.

Sounds like a sound argument to me. I'd be happy for you to do the work if you don't mind Charlene - real life is full on at the moment! Let me know if I can help and I'll do whatI can when I can.

(just linking Henrietta's profile ... so the discussion stays linked to her profile ...)

After doing some further research I'm almost certain Henrietta was not a wife or a mistress. Sir William Morgan's children also need to be sorted.

I've read Sir William Morgan's will. Unfortunately, he only names two children, Thomas his son and heir, and his second son Edward. He also names Edward's wife Elizabeth and their daughter Elizabeth.

Four son's can be confirmed from the Middle Temple admissions:

Thomas, son and heir
Edward, 2nd son
John, 5th son
Anthony, 6th son [by 2nd wife]

Burke's Landed Gentry names the 3rd son William. An old Gen-medieval post names the 4th son Rowland without giving a source.

The same unsourced Gen-medieval post names a total of 12 children. Three daughters are named Mary! I'm not sure about the accuracy of it.

1.Thomas.
2. Edward, of Kilfengan, will proved February, 1661; married Elizabeth James.
3. William, whence Morgan of Rhymy.
4. Rowland of Risca, will proved February, 1661; married Honora ___ and had Colonel William Morgan; buried at Bassalleg, October 27, 1679.
5. John of the Temple.
6. Mary, married George Lewis, of St. Pierre.
7. Blanch, married John Carne, of Ewenny.
8. Frances, married Charles Williams, of Llangibby.
9. Mary, single, will 1687.
10. Elizabeth, married William Morgan, and died 1638.

By the second wife:
11. Sir Anthony, of Kilfengan, died s.p.
12. Mary, married___ Farmer, of London.

Son Evan Morgan belongs to a different William Morgan.

Still working on this.

The Gen-medieval post has been taken from the publication "A history of the family of Morgan, from the year 1089 to present times" written in 1902 by Appleton Morgan

Primary sources for this family have not been easy to find online. I've had to rely on secondary sources. In the end I only disconnected Henrietta and Evan. I also updated the "about" section on a few family members.
