Problem with this page?

I hope everyone is uploading their dna results to Geni. (Find the dna tab on your profile page.)

Of course, because of centuries of endogamy, all Jews like like close cousins. Try not to get too carried away by the suggested relationships. :-)

So far, I have 302 autosomnal matches. How many does everyone else have?

Hard to say, Randy. At the moment, Geni is saying 250 at matches. Geni includes you in the Table of my at Matches but not in the list of matches in my Recent Activity. In the Table, many people are included more than once, and the Table has 13 pages, with 10 on last page (19-21 on other pages) - so I think that is where they are getting the count from (tho not sure).
Also annoying - my one known blood relative who has also uploaded his DNA - and whom FTDNA shows with both significantly more shared cM and longer longest segment than with you, at least - think more cM than with anyone else listed, didn't pay as much attention to longest segment - is still not shown in either Recent Activity list of matches nor in Table.

Who is the relative that doesn't show up? Are you sure the dna was uploaded from ftdna?

I have 189 but my son and his father's cousins have in the 200s.

By contrast, my mother (non-Jewish) has 20 matches.

His father's 1st cousin has 315 matches. My son has 249. My Margolis cousin has 295.

I have 164. Both Randy and Hatte come up as matches, Randy as a third cousin and Hatte as 2nd cousin twice removed.

I uploaded my 23andme file 10 days ago, but nothing shows yet. Anyone know how long they usually take to process outside files?

FTDNA is instantaneous but Ancestry and 23andme are taking some weeks apparently.

There is a useful thread in the Public Discussions call Super Integration Thread. Mike Stangel, who is the General Manager of Geni discusses this and answers questions and concerns.

Thank you. I'll just try to be patient!

I have 326 autosomal matches.

@Gary Howard Goldberg
There are 253 profiles on Geni with autosomal DNA that matches mine.

I don t have a DNA tab on my profile page!

I have 294 autosomal matches.

I don't see any DNA tab on my profile page. (I was tested on FTDNA).
Randy, do you know how I can fix this?

Thanks,
Ofer

Are you in Israel? Poland? Alaska? France? Geni does not have DNA Tabs for people in those countries.

I have DNA tab and used it, but can't find where results are... i know that I should have a lot of matches... Could anyone describe where to find it plz?

PS I am not pro. Also I am from Russia (but now in B ulgaria). May be it does matter...

Shalom Randy, I have 7327 autosomal "Family Finder" predicted cousins at FTDNA. When we met in Jerusalem at IAJGS I had appx, 5000 predicted matches. I am a project leader at FTDNA. I have a large number of known cousins from many different ancestral paths that have tested. This allows for better prediction of which branch the predicted [but previously unknown] cousin are likely from. My Y-DNA = Q-M242. My mtDNA = U7a. I encourage everybody with Q-M242 or U7a to contact me.

I have 305 autosomal matches on Geni.
FTDNA lists 341 matches at "close and intermediate" (2nd-3rd cousin) and a further 1058 matches at "distant" (of which 151 are 2nd-4th cousin , and the rest are 3rd-5th cousin)

I have 161 autosomal matches for my grandmother. In FTDNA, she has 18 "close" matches, 1112 "distant" entries. In GEDMATCH, around 2000 matches.
So far, I haven't been successful in finding a "paper trail" for any of the matches.

I have 312 matches this morning.

Geni currently shows 316 profiles with autosomal matches for me. The closest has 145cM shared. None appear to have connections to my family tree, though.

I have 282 autosomal matches and six mtDNA matches. I am having some problems using this feature. It would be very useful if the date when the connection was established was recorded so that we could sort on the date to put our matches in order. As it stands when I get a new match it might end up anywhere in the list. Also I am unable to sort on the Match Quality field, which would be useful. Perhaps this is a problem associated with the browser I am using, which is Firefox. Have others been able to use the Match Quality sort, and which browser are you using?

I uploaded my DNA from Ancestry on July 4th and am still waiting for a download. Also for my 1st cousin Michael Terr. Is there a problem or have I done something wrong......

I also have 13 pages and over 250 autosomal matches but with the lack of a sort feature it makes it very difficult to work with. I get notifications of new matches but they can be anywhere on the 13 pages. I have given up looking to find them as the pages load so slowly also. I love this new feature of geni. I especially love how they allocate across your tree. We all know that this still needs a lot of work but that is understandable as it is quite an undertaking. I am sure they are listening to us for feedback. First priority? Allow some way to sort.

I've got 261 matching profiles in 20 pages, still growing by 2-3 each day. I noticed that the names of the latest matches (with links to their profile) show up on my Recent Activity listing of my home page (https://www.geni.com/home) and also the Activity tab of my profile, so its possible to easily see who the new ones are. But I agree it'd be useful to enable sorting the DNA matches listing by date added and also by largest segment length. The latter is sometimes more useful for endogamous populations than total overlap.

All should bear in mind that Ashkenazi Jews ar being "overmatched" here, and they're working on it. I would have thought they learned something from FTDNA's early stumbling in this area. Endogamous populations, cosanguinity, look 'em up. I'm paying no attention to any numbers less than 200 for the time being. And none of this means anything, IMHO, without a careful examination of surnames in well researched genealogies for supposed matches. Don't have the data? You won't find any relatives on a silver DNA platter. Work for it.

I have 308 autosomal matches, but only one is actually a direct relative - a 13th cousin thrice removed!

I have countless matches and lots of people write to me, without any results so far. I think the 2nd-4th cousin estimate is actually far more distant. I have all the necessary info to recognize a 4th cousin, but most the of the names are completely unknown to me.
@Hatte Blejer : thanks for the info. Why are there no tabs for people in Israel ? - quite a large Jewish population here, I'd say.

There is a Super DNA Integration thread in Public Discussions. That is a good place to request features and note bugs.

That being said, Randy and I and others will convey requests as well. I know that Geni is aware of the need to be able to sort on date for certain. And we have pointed out that largest segment sorting is important.

I love being able FINALLY to go to a decent family tree to look at my matches. I only wish more people extended their trees further back and included dates AND locations.

Deborah Guth -- the issue with the state (Alaska) and the countries mentioned, including Israel, has to do with their laws I believe. Geni and MH is aware that this is a problem for some users.

So far I have 295 autosomal matches including Randy, Adam Brown and his wife. More are being added daily. Some of them I can even identify the relationship. Curiously they all seem to be through 2 main ancestors. More interesting I also have 3 MtDNA matches that I cannot identify any relationships with at all.
