Coonrod/Conrad S. and Barbara (RADABAUGH) COON removed to Henry and Hancock Counties, Indiana, from Coon’s Run area of what was then Virginia, now Marion County, West Virginia, between 1833 and 1837. I have yet to find evidence of who Coonrod’s parents pare.
I have done significant research on the children of Coonrod/Conrad S. COON (1803-1861) and Barbara RADABAUGH (c.1805-1882), and I have found no evidence that they had any children other than the following ten from censuses, his will, and deeds.
1. Jonathan Coon (1824-1914) m. Matilda Shelton
2. Abner Coon (1825-1902) m1. Rebecca Cameron; m2. Mary W. Pickering
3. Harrison H. Koon (1828-1886) m1. Lucinda Cook; after Lucinda's death in 1877, he returned to Harrison County, WV, and m2. Martha Druzilla Righter
4. George Kuhn (1830-1901) m. Sarah Johnson - THESE ARE MY 2nd great grandparents
5. Mark Coon (1832-1899) m. Catharine Sherry
6. Marion Coon (1833-1872) m. Mahala Cook
7. Jane Coon (1837-1878) m. John W. Shelton
8. Joseph Coon (1838-1902) m1. Elvira Winser; m2. Martha L. Milspaugh
9. James K. Polk Coon (1841-1895) m1. Nancy A. Raper; m2. Sarah Hall or Sarah Baker (these Sarahs could be one in the same)
10. Joshua Koon (1846-1899) m. Mahala Smith
On Coonrod’s gravestone is Conrad S. Coon. His name was spelled various ways.
I don’t know how the parentage of Coonrod/Conrad S. has been attributed to SO MANY DIFFERENT men, and how he and Barbara end up in trees with so many children that are not theirs. I do know that the manuscript held by the LDS by Cline Morgan Koon hasn’t helped.
