I'm trying to get all my research in order so when I kick the bucket my kin folks will be able to understand what is what.
I just noted that the photo on the headstone ID's her as Mary Perry???? Louise was born in 1799 (source?) headstone shows
June 5, 1801???? A little research shows that is the birth date of Louise's sister Mary. Did Louise die and Peter remarry????
Strange!

Mary Bariau and [[Campeau-235|Michel Campeau] were married at St. Anne’s Church on 20 Apr 1821 in [Detroit, Michigan, USA. Citation: Wayne County, Michigan Dibean Marriage Index, MIGenWeb Archives (2003).

Mary was also referred to as Marie in several areas.

I believe Louisa Elizabeth Bariau was also known as Mary Louisa Elizabeth Bariau based on things I have read.

On a slightly separate note...

Do you know what the Bariau family changed the spelling of their name to be. It doesn't look like they left the spelling the same when they came to America.

Rachael: Yeah, I know about Michel Campeau. But I can't see Louisa deciding to use her sister's name (and birth date) as her own. Seems it would be a little confusing. I'm not doubting the line of decent. I have a copy of the church record of Peter and Louisa (mostly un-readable).
The line I follow is from my ex-wife and my children. (Deborah Perry, James J.Jr., James J. Sr., James A. Jr., James A. Sr., Peter Pare).
I have a photo of Peter Pare.
As far as the names I think that everyone in some of the families spelled the name differently. The church entered the names in Latin, then there was the french version and then the English version. Jacobus/Jacques/James Paret/Pare/Perry.
