My great-grandad Daniel Webster Monroe Vann (1845-1921) going to a Cherokee CSA reunion not long before his death (image from original photograph). He served from the beginning of the Civil War with Stand Watie's Mounted Rifles. At 16 years old, he enlisted in Co M First Cherokee Mounted Rifles, then was assigned to Co C upon their reorganization.
