I decided to work on the Schönberg family. Still lots more work to be done.

Hi Pam.
I assume you are going to present at the conference. Can you give me a title or a precis as I have an aunt who vanished from Krakow with her husband son and daughter in law Jan 1941 and am deep in many years of trying to uncover their fate.

PS cannot be there sadly
The Addressbook of Krakow 1907 could be a useful tool for the research:

Hi Pam!
The scans of several addressbooks (for Krakow and also for Lemberg) and other useful books are from this web site:
http://www.mtg-malopolska.org.pl/bibliotekacyfrowa.html
For example -
Krakow telephone directory 1924:

Adressbook Krakow 1932:

Randy Schoenberg, thanks for helping with the Schonbeeg family.
I would like to reach 50k in time for the conference.
For everyone working on Krakow project:
- There has been a request that the most recent date on which each tree has been modified is copied into the About of all family members.
- This date is found at the end of each listing below a horizontal line "If you have any questions ....." Last modified on (DATE)
I find it simplest to copy and paste this date (together with the source link) into About of each profile. eg:
http://www.ics.uci.edu/~dan/genealogy/Krakow/Families/Blumenstock.html
Last modified on March 17, 2017
Thanks !
Sorry Pam, I deleted mine before your answer -
Because I initially thought you meant I was adding his reference + the date I updated it. And I was going "Huh what for?? - you can get that from the Geni History"
But then when I went to do it - I thought "Silly Woman, Pam means the date of Dan's file" {Which is exactly what you asked for - I'm a bit slow this morning.}
A great idea - that way if you are looking at the profile in the future and Dan's file has a newer date - you can tell that there might be additional information.
Can I suggest another slight change - On the Project page - That we add that date too at the end of COMPLETED. That way it is easy to tell at a glance which families might need updating. (Just for ones that we are updating from now forward) at some point in the future.
eg Zuckerman - Salomon (not known) COMPLETED 7 March 2017
Dan's information is awesome, what an amazing resource.
Pam Karp,
When doing the updates I sometimes find that a name is different in two files (usually just obvious spelling variations)
Example
* husband Tim BECK with wife Ann JONES in the BECK file
* husband Tim BUCK with wife Ann JONES in the JONES file
They will most likely have different last updated dates.
Should we go back to Dan with a note, or come back via the project so he doesn't have too many people bombarding him? Or do we just leave it as he probably already knows about it, as he has them linked?

You ask a good question. If the profiles are obviously the same despite the different spelling variations I would go ahead and merge.
The smerged profile About will then display a source link for each tree with its own "modified by" date. One profile could also be listed in a number of different families with links and dates for each one.
I don't think its necessary to go back to Dan on this.

Re your suggestion about adding the date to the COMPLETED - this is just a guide for workers to see at a glance which trees still need to be added to the project and to Geni.
Its really a tool which does not have an infinite life span.
On completion of all families in the project the intention is to delete COMPLETED and have a nice clean project. We are still waiting for Dan to release an additional 100+ trees into the project.
Hmm, did I say "on completion" ... if ever !
