I did an oral history of my grandmother at the age of 88 (she died at 92). Her single name was Ida Schwartz and she came to America somewhere between 1906 and 1913 (we believe the latter from Ellis Island records but are not sure we have the right record). In the oral history she says she thinks she grew up in a town that sounded like Bivolari Romania. Her father was a hansom cab driver (horse and buggies) between her town and Iasi Romania, which would fit Bivolari too. She also said she remembers seeing Russian (not Soviet) soldiers across the river in her youth. That would fit the Prut River which looked across to current day Moldavia that was in the Russian Empire at the time of her youth. Can anyone tell me if they have a relative from Bivolari and any connection to the Schwartz family of that time there? Thank you.

Dear Max:
Hi. Well we might be related, lots in common in terms of last name and also Bivolari. But I don't recognize your family's given names. My great grandmother was Rachel Lea. I know there were my great-uncles Max and Abbe Markus at 136 Eldridge St. New York .The Marcu and Markus are similar but the former is a first name and the latter a last name I think? And I think Abbe was a brother in law not a blood relative. Their names and the Eldridge St address are on the Ellis Island ship manifest of my grandmother as American relatives. I remember Max and Abbe from childhood. My father was a salesman for their company (Brassiere manufacturing) in Brooklyn. Anything familiar?
I did have my DNA done through Family Tree DNA.
Best,

MY mom was born in Iassi possibly under Ernestina ( her name now is Ester) . Her sister name was bettie ( now called bella) and her brother name was Jacob ( yaacov).
She definttly had an aunit who moved to NY , or had contact with a relative that moved to NEWWARK acvtually, but you know my mom was 6 years old at the time of ww2 and she can only remmber stories as she spent the time in hiding in an orphanage in Iassi.
