Archibald Sloan Lewis is buried in NC but Archibald Lewis is buried in TN. They are marked as born in the same year but died in different years. How can the same person die on different dates and be buried in two different states - and still be the same person?

I know with the Archibald Lewis who was married to Prudence Lassiter.... the tombstone says one date... when his probate record is from 1894. I think the stone was made some time later, and the person who made it maybe used the year they made the stone, or asked someone who was unsure of the time of death.
