Has anyone wondered how a 21 year old man had 10 children at his death?

I doubt this is about adoption or a string of multiple births. I have seen no birth record, and if he was, indeed, a Huguenot, such records may well have been lost or destroyed. I'm afraid too much is being left to conjecture or replication of erroneous family histories. This is a problem in many geni profile entries. "When in doubt, leave him/her out" is a good rule of thumb. :-)

I would have to go his profile, and compare my own profile's with his. This is what I only have from my FTM from 2002 and 2003 research periods.

Nichoas II Gaylord, b. o/a 1525 in Langford, Budville, Somersetshire, England, d. 13 Apr 1556 in Pitminster, Somersetshire, England, m. Johanne Newman Brixton, b. o/a 1529 in Brixton, Ddevonshire, England, d. 31 Aug 1572 in Pitminster, Somersetshire, England. Their marriage was o/a 1550.The issue that I have is 2. John Gaylord b. o/a 1552 in Pitminster, d. 31 May 1607 in Pitminster, and Hugh Gaylord, b. o/a 1554 in Pitminster, and d.21 Oct 1614 in Pitminster.

I also see, that she was married prior to Nicholas. His name is Giles Alvyn, b. o/a 1523 in Minster, d. UNK. Their was 1 issue. Joan Alvyn, b. o/a 1548. That's all I have on Nicholas profile.

I just took a look at the profile, and see some similar info.

Now, what I would do is this. Contact each person that added and manage the children, and have them come up with some historical document (Texted, Photo Copy, or carved in stone) that will verify these issues of children.

For those that can't be verified, I would put PV(Pending Verification) on front of their name.

Then once they have been verified. Remove the PV, and lets say after 30 days remove none verified issues from his profile.

I wish I could be of more help.

Sincerely,

Ken

we all know that even if asked nicely they won't do it so that's out of the question.. I don't like having to threatn to get my way but I've had to do that with people who say it's my way or the highway on profiles like these..

I cleaned up the data conflicts, which makes some things better, but it does look like children have been attached who aren't his. Let me know which ones to detach. It may be that some need to stay, but have wrong birth dates.

This web tree for the family has used wills, land and court records as sources.
