The wretched things are beginning to infest my family tree too. Do they by any chance have anything to do with MyHeritage's new "Book Matching" feature? That could be really good - or really bad, as not all books are reliable, and even the "reliable" ones sometimes have bad information. (I shudder to think of another attack of the Emma Siggins Whites....)
Erica Howton thanks for the reminder about flowers should I pick up some for you guys as well as some choclate when I pick up mom's ftd order for sunday?
Hi, I just read this thread because I am curious what a "ghost profile" means?
is this an example of one? He has about 10 sons with the same name who appear to be the same person. I thought maybe a few bad merges??
I Have actually been trying to match up a few profiles related to his and his looks to need some work. I contacted both profile managers as I did not feel confident enough to merge all of the Allen Shrewsbury's with each other.
Anyway, just wondering.
also, I noticed he has about 24 Smart Matches.
Okay, thanks.
=)
Hi Jamey
No, Allen Shrewsbury and his duplicates are run of the mill old duplicate entries that need to be merged together, by "anyone." They are public / deceased.
"Ghost" profiles are private and show as white nodes in the tree. You can see they are there but you can see no details.
New ones are part of an enhancement project Geni is working on. Old ones are "zombies" -- errors in data entry or original GEDCOM uploads where historic profiles are showing as white nodes. Those can be resolved on the "Zombies please" discussion for curator attention.
Your duplicate Allen Shrewsbury's do not need a curator to resolve.
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who is helping with the merging of the newly-public profiles. I know the WFT is a bit of a mess right now, but we're getting there!
Though I admit that revisiting and revisiting the same Hubbard lines and Hingham families is making me internally scream a little. ;)
