Dear fellow researchers,
Can anyone prove or give me the source where the info that Charity died in Hickman county, Tn. In 1774???????? This date can't be right as she married Major (name not title) April 4, 1778 in Wake or Granville co., NC. HER 4 children born to she and Pollard were born after that date. I believe she stayed in NC and died there. I've been researching 50+ years so I do have some data. Please will anyone find proof of her death and WILL and be willing to work with me on this family. You can reach me temporarily at bailbondsnbeyond@gmail.com. She may be buried by her 1st husband James Jones or Major Pollard in Wake, Johnston, or Granville counties NC
Blessings, Judy
I found this statement on line .. don't know how accurate to is or if it will be helpful to you in anyway. It may be source that ignited the place where she died .
The Charity Alston that married John Alston, is not the widow of Capt James Jones, b. 1730
and died in Nov 1777. James' widow, Charity was the dau. of Soloman Alston Sr. and Ann
"Nancy" Hinton. James' widow married 2nd,in 1778, in Granville Co. to a Major Pollard and
had Charity Pollard; Nannie Pollard, who
married Daniel George; and Elizabeth "Betsy" Pollard, who married Thomas Steel. Charity
Alston Jones Pollard moved to Hickman Co., TNto be near her daughter Betsy Steel after
Mr. Pollard died.Charity died in Hickman Co.,
TN.
Charity Alston that married John Alston, son of James Alston and Christian Linington, was
the dau. of Soloman Alston Jr. and Sarah Hinton, and a niece of James Jones' wife,
Charity.
Thank you Gail for your reply to my question about death ace of Charity E. Alston Jones Pollard. I can find no proof of her ever moning to Hickman, Tn from NC. I bieve she died somewhere around Wake cou ty, NC. My GGGGrandfather was Major Alfred Pollard born 1791 or 1794 Wake. His sister was supposed to be Elizabeth Pollard who married Thomas Steele (daughter of Major and Charity Pollard) who moved to Hickman, Tn. after her husband died in Orange co., NC. ANY HELP WOULD be so appreciated. Blessings, Judy Dunbar
