For @Alex Christopher Bickle:
My permission has been requested to add Levi Strauss to this project. I am completely unaware of any "questionable practices" that Levi followed in his business. If I don't receive proof of such practices within a week, I'm removing him from this project. There are so many other worthy candidates!

Hello Alex, for some reason I can't see your complete replies. Interesting ideas; I'll look more into it. I don't mind the title at all, for anyone, related or not, provided that it is deserved.
Regards,
Judith

I also had a request from Alex to add Johns Hopkins. I accepted it out of the spirit of collaboration, but with great reservation. He really isn't considered by historians to have been in that category; indeed, he is best remembered for his philanthropy and community-building.

Maybe we need a strict rubric for qualification?

http://romanswikispace.wikifoundry-mobile.com/m/page/Gilded+Age+Ind... compiles some strong arguments for why Hopkins should never be considered a robber baron.

My preference is obviously to not include him in the project, but I will let others weigh in.
