Thanks Sharon, Now to find his wife's parents who were my great grandparents: Jan Adrian van Zyl married Sophaa Maria Terblanche in South Africa. My grandfather Casper Jacobus van Zyl was born in Zeerust, Transvaal.

I've seen both spellings;Pieter (b5c7d10)'s marriage certificate to Regina Lombard reads, at least to me as Hilgard, whilst the one to Charlotte Roux looks like Helgard.His will records his name as Hilgard

Pieter( b5c7d10e8) is listed in the family history as Helgard, in his father's will as Hilgard and he names his own son Hilgard whilst his grandson is Helgard.

My brother Gerald's third name is spelt Hilgard.

I've also seen Hellegart and Hilgaart.

Should you find out anything about his wife, and my grandmother please let me know as this branch of the Van Zyl's is a mystery to me.
