I find it interesting that Fontaine and Lucy would have six children over a 12 year span, but in Ferguson genealogy, only Betty (Elizabeth) is mentioned as their biological child. In fact, she is the only child of Lucy mentioned in Lucy's father's will, and based on all the resources I have encountered so far: 1) Fountain started having children with Lucy while she married to and concomitantly having children with Burwell; and 2) he had his first child at the age of 10. How could this woman have children from a little boy and hide those children from her husband? From all the gazillions of documents we have of all the Fergusons descended from Alexander Ferguson (Farguson), even as far back as when we were known as MacFhearghuis, to Lucy, including Lucy's children from her first marriage to Burwell Jackson, you would think that there would be mention of Fontaine's previous five children with Lucy UNLESS the birthdates of the previous five children are incorrect, which I am absolutely certain is so. I am expecting to discover that, yes, Lucy and Fontaine are indeed Betty's parents, but I suspect that Fontaine had the previous five children from a prior marriage and was married later to Lucy than 1792, more like 1800. What's also interesting is that it is documented that Fontaine adopted Burwell's children from Lucy and the others from Burwell's prior marriage were adopted by a Dunnivant family. Lucy was Burwell's second marriage. Fontaine was Lucy's second marriage, and now it's possible that Lucy is Fontaine's second marriage as well. If I was a gambler, I would be willing to put a wager on this one; I just don't have the evidence I need to prove this suspicion. Anyone with any thoughts on this one for Sherlock Kingston?
