Has anyone located the burial records or place of James Walker, father of Sarah, James and Phillip ? Findagrave and most trees show him as being buried in the Walker-Blake Cemetery in Massachuetts. That is not possible. He died in 1625 and the cemetery was not established until 1678 with the first burial of his daughter in law, Elizabeth Tisdale. He is also not listed in the original Walker-Blake burial records. I feel he never left England and that is why Sarah and James came to America in 1635 and his wife and Phillip followed later hence, "widow walker". James died some ten years before.

Possible but I doubt it. He would have been buried over ten years by the time his daughter Sarah and son James came over with their uncle in 1635 and more than that when his widow and other son came over as well. The body was decayed by then and moving him by ship would have been very unpleasant back then and unhealthy for those aboard.

Also, he would have been dead 53 years by the time the Walker-Blake Cemetery opened and it shows that the first burial was that of his daughter in law Elizabeth Walker. I am certain he is buried in England somewhere.

I am also beginning to wonder about the historical documentation about this line of the Walker family. Everything shows that father James, Sarah and son James were born in Weymouth, Dorset, England but can find no solid documentation. However, it also shows that James and Elizabeth were married on June 6, 1614 in Radcliff, England. I questioned that as well since Weymouth and Radcliff are miles apart for travel back then. But, I did locate documentatioin that a Sarah Walker, father James and mother Elizabeth was born on 1 March 1618 in Radcliff and brother James born 9 January 1620. Have not found documentation on Phillip as yet. I also found a James Walker, died 26 July 1625 in London. With so many with the same names and same era it is difficult to trace.

(just so you know that others are reading your notes, Pamela) ... looking forward to your getting this sorted out. Once you do so, Curators can help to keep them 'separated' by marking them as Master Profiles (which, among other things, keeps two Master Profiles from being merged together).
