I can understand why German is used, I used it myself as every address I put in on a profile always ended up in Germany.
But I think the early ships should not be emegrants, but pioneers or colonists. This is what I am doing with the British Ships.
It looks better on the profile and respects their place in history better.
How long in to settlement were they pioneers?
A better name may encourage others to add their family to the projects, I don't want to insult anyone.
Looking forward to direction here :)

I am not sure if there is any official point in time. Perhaps we could use something like 1856 when Boyle Travers Finniss was appointed as 1st Premier of SA? We could say the state was well colonised by this point?
Here is an interesting timeline I found:

Thanks :)
Have seen the timeline, and have noted the ones that effected emigration like mining finds and ceasing to assist passage etc.
I will make notes in our ship timeline of those changes to circumstance, settlers destinations when arriving etc.
Not allowed to copy it tho, so will source seperately :)
So name up to 1856 Colonists?
check out this story Thomas Hudson Beare My gg grandmothers sisters father in law :( very hard times they had :(
Thanks
