"A grant of arms was made August 16, 1632 to Asshton of Shepley co. Lancaster....who must be accounted the ancestor of the Asshetons of Pennsylvania."
It also notes he was a kinsman of William Penn.
Seems like finding who the recipient of the arms was will be the identity of the father of Robert Assheton.

Above info meant as a place to research Robert Assheton and create profile and to link origin of Robert Booth. Booth and Assheton families intermarried in Cheshire. Both families descendants of Marcher land owners.
