Looking for more information regarding Richard Bacon. He married a Margaret Anna Downey and they had a son named John Jaques Bacon born in Illinois Territory in 1775. I have records of him being in Natchez, MS running one of the first ferries across the Mississippi to Louisiana and also owning a place called Bacon's Landing on land that was gifted to him by the Spanish. The land was seized for unpaid debts according to Natchez court records from the time and the house he built is still standing and now a small outbuilding that is part of a bed and breakfast called The Briars. I am in dire need of finding out who his parents were and also who Margret's parents were. I cannot find any Canadian passenger records for him as I believe he came through the Saint Lawrence Seaway then made his way down the Mississippi to Natchez. I know Bacon is an English surname and that his ancestors would have came from England, I just cannot find out when or where. He also does not seem to be part of a larger emmigration of Bacon's that settled in Massachusetts.
