I just discovered that my third great grandfather, Isaak WOLFF, was born in Schwersenz in 1798.
Isaak Wolff

Does anyone have any Wolff relatives from here? I'd like to know more, and how to find his parents, if there are any records from 1798.

HI.

It is likely that your Isaak Wolff is the same person as was recorded as being Naturalized as a Jewish Citizen of Schwersenz on September 13, 1834. He was a Kaufmann, a businessman, trader or merchant. One of 98 men (mostly) who were made citizens of the Grand Duchy of Posen in 1834 and 1835 in Schwersenz. He is reported to have already been naturalized somewhere and moved into the Province, and recorded on that date in S.

Source: Naturalized Jews of the Grand Duchy of Posen in 1834 and 1835, revised Edition, compiled by Dr. Edward David Luft, published by Avotaynu in 2004.

There is a Jewish town project for Schwersenz that you can add him to if not already done so.

Hi Dan,

I have a residence card for Isaak Wolff (1798-1879), Kaufmann, from Schwersenz. His wife was Mania Heilbronn (1818-1884). His children were Gustav, Moritz, Emmanuel and Leopold. You can contact me for a copy.

There is a Pincus Heilbron listed as a Kaufmann in Schwersenz in Luft's book achieved citizenship on Sept 13, 1834 same date as above.

I like to put these unrelated people into Geni as they will be matched up in the future. Randy S says we are all part of the same big puzzle. Also add to Town Project as that facilitates building relationships too.

There are 98 people in Luft in Schwersenz, and now we have covered 2, only 96 left. Probably less as I have been working on this aspect for a few weeks already with various town projects.

You can imagine the town on that exact day, all the rich Jews getting naturalized, and we are there with our list in hand 200 years later checking them off again.

Thanks for your help Janet, it's nice to hear a message from you to the two Dans

I did not find a residence card for Pincus Heilbron. How do I get the list of the other 98 people?

Your various library sources should have a copy of Luft, if not you can purchase one for about $40 US from Avotaynu.

Private User and Dan Berwin Brockman I have found it! I was able to write to the Posen State Archives and they sent me back the death certificates for both Isaak Wolff and Maria Heilbronn. Her father is indeed Pincus Heilbron! I've put him in the tree and found more connections that I've been adding!

I found a tree that has Pinchas Lipschuetz with some variations of the name -- such as Lipschuetz, Lipschütz, Lipschutz, Lifschitz, etc... Anything on him or his family?

I have ordered the Luft's book!

I don't have any more on this family at this moment. Have fun with Luft.

I am excited about your finding, Dan! How is the Lipschutz family related to you? I have several residence cards for them (but not for Pinchas). I now have the Luft book too.
