Is it possible to add communities without using HTML? I would like to include Nyiregyhaza.

as a project?
I think there is a trend to clarify and structure places in GENI.
I think it is a good thing to have a hierarchical structure.
There is a project http://www.geni.com/projects/Places-in-Hungary/29593, where the counties of Austro-Hungarian Empire (64+7) are listed and there could be a project behind each one.
So there should be also one for Szabolcs County (Nyíregyháza, HU, UA) (e) too

Private User

the question is what do you want to place there
http://www.geni.com/projects/Ny%C3%ADregyh%C3%A1za-Hungary/29651 exists already - I would be glad if you could use it.

I want to add Nyiregyhaza to Jewish Communities in Hungary.

Private User Here is how you can launch your own Jewish Community of Nyíregyháza Project.

1. Click on the "Research" tab on top of your home page,

2. Click on the "Projects" link from the drop down menu.

3. Click on "Start a New Project" tab at the right of the Geni Projects page.

4. Enter a project name into the "Description Box".
e.g. "Jewish Community of Nyíregyháza, Hungary"

5. Enter your name under "Collaborators", as you are now the creator ie. first collaborator

6. You can enter names of others you wish to invite to collaborate on the project.

7. Enter some text into the "Description" panel

For more information see: http://www.geni.com/projects/Working-with-projects-Step-by-Step/18185

I will be glad to help further develop the project once you reach this stage.
So, please add me as an additional collaborator.

Good luck!

Private User Once there is a "Jewish Community of Nyíregyháza, Hungary" Project, you add it to the "Jewish Communities of Hungary Umbrella Project" via the "Related Projects" section on the right of the page. However, you need to make sure you have joined any project you want to link to.

This works great Malka, thank for the instructions. I did make a Jewish Town Family Project today for Rogasen. I made a mistake and put the word Bohemia in the Title. Could you instruct me on how to modify a Title, or just take it out yourself with your magical powers. It's in Poland not Bohemia.

Dan Berwin Brockman Congratulations, Town Projects are extremely beneficial. Thank you so much for your valuable addition.

The Title is modified.
You might enjoy experimenting with some Wiki text tweaks. eg.

If someone has a good list of Hungarian jewish communities, we can put that on the umbrella page and then people can start adding the projects.

The only question is whether they all had Jewish communities.

11/4/2015 at 5:28 PM

Randy Schoenberg Private User has a superb project that lists all the Hungarian Communities.

Should we add all the names, or winnow through them to find the ones which contained Jewish Communities?

Randy Schoenberg Using Gabor's list, I will research to see which ones had a Jewish Community and we can then use that revised list for the Umbrella Project page.

33 communities are entered. "========" signals the missing sites. They can be added and all should be checked

Private User Thanks so much, that is a terrific start. I have found two sites from which it will be easy to expand the list.

Magyar Zsidó Lexikon (hitközségek szerinti mutató)
1. http://mek.oszk.hu/04000/04093/html/hitkozseg.html

Towns listed in Encyclopaedia of Jewish Communities. Hungary
2. http://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/pinkas_hungary/hun900.html
2a. http://www.jewishgen.org/Yizkor/pinkas_hungary/pinkas_hungary.html

Randy Schoenberg Entering the data from the two links above should cover all Jewish Communities in Hungary.

Great. I hope you or someone can get the list on the umbrella page. Then we can start creating the projects. We did Galicia and I am working on Germany at the moment. But Hungary would be great to get going also. We need to build these and then watch them grow as people discover the projects and add profiles.

We still need people to add projects for all of the Hungarian towns listed on the project page.

12/26/2019 at 4:25 PM

We could really use many more Hungarian town projects. I'll try to add some from the Györ, Moson, Sopron region.
