Hi Private User, if you work frequently in the edit zone, using a lot of URL's, I personally profit by the names. This way I can find my URL's of websites and images by using the 'find in page' search method very easily.
But I can imagine that the inexperienced eye, hasn't got a clue where to look for what. Than this website could be very useful indeed.
The lengthy URL's being shortened are looking totally unrecognisable to me, how strange that may even sounds.
Example:
instead of:
http://loretta-s-photography-gallery6.webnode.com
I am very familiar with using URLs Dimitri! This link is one I use when the URL is very long as with links to on-line books etc.
an example http://books.google.com/books?id=1NVpAAAAMAAJ&pg=PR36&lpg=P...
is better as http://twixar.me/6Jt
It is obviously best to use a name in the link such as as in [http://twixar.me/kzt Loretta's Phopography] or [http://loretta-s-photography-gallery6.webnode.com Loretta's Photography]
or this
id=1NVpAAAAMAAJ&pg=PR36&lpg=PR36&dq=theobald+walter+beatrix&source=bl&ots=FzpEufqW6g&sig=WMLzlX7-A1hM9oCDdHEXqTH9W98&hl=en&sa=X&ei=N-H9Uo2CB6OOyAGs6oGoBg&ved=0CDoQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=theobald%20walter%20beatrix&f=false
preceded by http://books.google.com/books?
I know what you mean, and I noticed the difference between copying links and copying the URL straight from the website itself. BIG difference lol.
Well, I will put up the Twixar link on the Wicked Wiki project. All bits and pieces will help in making it easier to work your way around in the Edit Arena :)
(Wow, sounds like a good project title! lol)
Thank you for sharing this link, before I forget to mention this, Private User
