Virginia was the Assistant Cashier at the Richmond County Bank in Rockingham for nearly 40 years. She enjoyed a modest retirement that allowed her to travel the country and Europe, with her good friend Agnes Cree Deane, wife of former U.S. Congressman C. B. Deane. She built a home on Ann Street in 1939 - just in time for her son, Harry A. West, Jr. to be born in the home. She lived in this home for 62 years until her death. She willed the home to Harry Jr., who now uses it as his "Summer" home.
