This is what I've been doing to cross reference related projects (note: you must be a curator or project collaborator).
- add tags to the new project: [name of project], [umbrella if any], cause_of_death. Cause_of_death is in the tag database, if you type it in, please select the existing tag word.
- add this code to the foot (bottom) of the new project page:
----
'''jump back to [http://www.geni.com/projects/Cause-of-death-portal/27730 Cause of death portal]'''
----
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>this project is in [http://www.geni.com/projects/HistoryLink/14021 HistoryLink]
{{///media.geni.com/p13/43/69/79/0c/5344483e65ec5d9e/historylink_logo_really_small_t.jpg?hash=6aa2ef5218b989e2c2cf563352590e693bcd2656567ac492eb8634ab7a579474.1768291199|center}}
- that means the project has been added to the HistoryLink project list, which is done here:
http://historylink.herokuapp.com/projects
- use the "related project" function (to the right on the project page); edit > drop down to "cause of death portal" > done
- replace the plain text indexed placeholder with a hyperlink
In the overview for the "cause of death" project, edit > (find the right category) > replace with a hyperlink to the project > save
Example:
-- I copied the project URL from the browser bar, http://www.geni.com/projects/Lethal-Injections/27957
-- I opened up in edit mode the project overview http://www.geni.com/project-27957/edit
-- I scrolled down to the "capital punishment" grouping, and added
** [http://www.geni.com/projects/Lethal-Injections/27957 Lethal Injections]

Don't worry if this seems too much. If you need help, just post the project name here and one of us will be glad to assist.
