Queens County Sentinel 9/20/1866
On Tuesday of last week, Alanson Ketcham, aged 45 and Henry Smith, aged 25, were drowned at Hemlock Inlet opposite Amityville. It seems that they had been out fishing, and in attempting to come home by way of Hemlock Inlet the boat was upset owing to the rough sea. It was supposed that both were drowned immediately as they were unable to swim. Ketcham was married, Smith was unmarried. The bodies were both recovered one on Thursday and one on Saturday, three and six miles east of the spot where the sad affair occurred. The funeral took place from the Methodist Church at Amityville, on Sunday last, and was attended by a very numerous assemblage, as the parties were very well known and respected by all.

Kimberly,

I've added this info as a death notice on Alanson's profile. Do you know who Henry Smith is so that I can do the same for his profile?
