Oops. Sorry to ruffle feathers. :)

Rickey, you're speaking to someone sympathetic to computer mishaps, which is what the Mis merge sounds like. If we don't try, we don't learn, and improve. Those of us who are more experienced need a little tolerance for the learning curve, wouldn't you say?

And it's part of what curators are for: helping to fix the errors (mechanical and / or genealogical); and using the tools as hand to further protect data quality.

So i didn't really address the Mis merge; if we had caught it sooner, i could have tried "merge undo.". But as you noted up front, it's been a tortured tree without enough attention for some time.

So let's focus on getting better / more sources & citations in there ....

Geeze I hope I didn't do any of this damage. Would like to know where George fits in now though.

Douglas - can you post a link to the George Parsons you're asking about? You may have noticed we have more than one ...

My Jonathan Parsons, my ffmmf, died in Bradley County, TN and not in Mississippi. Both had a daughter Nancy.Mine is my gg gm, and the other Nan y died at 1 day old. Mine was born about 1806 through 1813, not 1797.

One or the other JP was s/o Richard Parsons 1758 and. Elizabeth "Betsy" Feathers", NOT RP ~1720.

I enterred a RP 1758 to be Jonathan's father, as I enterred in 2008. It took the man but called the 1758 dob invalid, w/ no explanation. So, it looks as if I cannot even re-supply the erroneously removed RP. HHHEEELLLP !!!

Clarification: it was Jonathanwho was born ~1806-@1813, not his daughter Nancy.

Rickey I think I got it fixed a bit.

And we're at the $64 question

Lydia Parsons

looks to be a different person from

Lydia Parsons

Even if, inconveniently, they marry men with the same name & have sons with the same name.

Can you fill in more details on your guys?

Here's our record from FamilySearch - the one that make Betsy "Mary" to be a full blood Cherokee daughter of Chief Turkey Feathers, and second wife after Lydia Bragg of the Richard Parsons born 1720.

So take it as a reference further "down" tree

https://familysearch.org/tree/#view=ancestor&person=LZ1M-LL8

Now there is useful info in that record:

Oh no! You're from the same line LOL.

Your info looks like what I know, and I think Rickey Dale would agree too; you diverge from your cousin.

Rickey's got messed up with the Cherokee legend, & too many repeating Richard's. Maybe your tree being in better shape will help whip his back in line.

David Howerton I think we're ready for real research ....

There seem to be 4 or 5 Richards. I've seen nothing to convince me of the early Betsy Feathers. I think someone just connected her wrongly to the 1720 RP, then said "let's make her 5 years younger than hubby", then voila she exists. One Betsy -- anything else should be examined very carefully.

I'm not sure I'm connected to any of them at this point. I have conclusive proof of the Jonathan P. who married Nancy Jenkins and died in Bradley County TN, and was B. ~1806-1813. I thought his dad was RP 1858 whose dad was John whose Dad was Richard 1720, and then on to various Josephs. However, I don't now find a suitable John ~1738 to put between RP 1720 and RP 1758 !

I think maybe I or we should sever my Jonathan again from even RP 1758, and just ponder a while. Although ?? Jonathan ~1806-1813 --> RP 1758 --> RP 1735 ??

We definitely have to keep the Bradley Jonathan separate from the Tishomingo Jonathan. Maybe I'll just go shake a while. My mother, after almost having a bad car wreck, would just pull over to shake a while, she said.

Sigh. Good luck to everyone. At least we have ~1806-1813 Jonathan separated from a father B. 1720!

Noble Curator, THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORK.

We were at Richard Parsons when I left. :) :)

Together you all have worked from the ground up and agreed on a correct path and dates. Good collaboration as a group.

So far most of the of the data is from individual data from each of you. Most of the data now will come from other people's work and we have to try to prove what we feel is correct. This sounds like a load of crap doesn't it?

I started out working on Richard Parsons and felt overwhelmed. There are so many people that have taken the data they have and made assumptions to fit their trees. I saw so many theories and assumptions made by others. People were totally disagreeing, but stating their sources. The problem is that we could not see or verify their sources.

Here is a forum on Ancestry dated between 2002 and 2004 titled "Questions on the two Richard". After I read this I felt so confused.

I found a really nice link for Richard & Lydia Briggs

http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/PARSONS/2010-01/12628...

Used that for his immediate family although I don't think there are profiles for all the kids

This is pretty enjoyable

Anyway - i think 1720 Richard is OK. It's the two gens & then to Bradley TN that's needing help.

Thanks Erica. It's been really interesting and fun doing this over the last several months. Thanks to everyone that makes this available. I am also a Hale and that is a big family too. Fortunately my Great Grandmother Rice passed on the book from the Hale family, so I had a good start there. Then there are the Akers, Spencers and the McBrayers. Who knew almost everyone in my tree came over so early and went back so far. Ok thanks again..... D. Mark Parsons
