Launcelot Granger, Jr. - Ancestry & descent

Is it true (do we have proof) that Susannah Olds is the sister of George Granger. George is the son of Launcelot, so Susannah would have to be Launcelot's daughter?

Launcelot of Shellington cannot have been the father of Laurence Granger (1637-1689) -- his real birth date somewhat earlier -- this was established in the 1940s.

I'm passing on info from Geni member Bradley Jennings Granger

@Lancelot Granger, Jr.

I do not see Laurence Granger on the tree as Lancelot's son; apparently that has already been fixed. Does that resolve thee question about Susannah Olds (Granger)?

I'm definitely seeing issues with daughter Susannah. Torrey has Robert Old's 1st wife as Susan [Hanford] & his 2nd as Dorothy Granger

Susannah Olds dates don't match notes. Launcelot's children were born in Newbury area - I'll see what there is for VR

I don't think Launcelot & Joanna had a daughter Susannah

Vital records of Newbury to 1850, births

Unless there's an objection, I believe we should conform the Geni tree accordingly.

See the Suffield Historical Society's website, Early Families. They have great info about the Granger family.

I haven't heard from Private User yet but I've gone ahead & disconnected Susannah Olds from Launcelot Granger, of Newbury & Suffield

His children were documented in Vital Records & discussed by Savage, Pope, Torrey, etc.. No daughter Susannah.

This site is almost always correct and has consulted many primary sources. I am on an iPhone hence my inability to say more

It's all done I believe.

Thanks for disconnecting Susannah from Launcelot, Erica.

BTW, The reference to Launcelot of Shellington was meant to refer to the father of Launcelot of Suffield. The study that was done in 1948 researching Launcelot's origins (it can be found in the American Genealogist, vol 29, 1953) established that Launcelot of Shellington, b 1637 to Launcelot, Sr., would have been too young to be the Launcelot who landed in Ipswich, MA in 1647/8. There were other inconsistencies, as well, that indicated a different, but unknown, ancestry for Launcelot of Suffield.

According to my Granger genealogy (pub 1893) Dorothy Granger, daughter of Launcelot, married Dr. Robert Old of Suffield 1 April 1689. Previously he had been married to Susannah Hosford by whom he had 9 children. She died in 1688. He had 6 children by Dorothy.
