How do we trace our roots in the old world before 1900? I have documentation in the form of a letter from my father, Mark Reinsberg from 1970's that his grandmother's maiden name was Eulenberg. The 1910 US Federal Census shows the spelling as Eulenberg. His mother's side of the family is from the region of Austria Hungary Bohemia.

It would be helpful if we could all confirm if there is an alternate spelling. Elsewhere on line it showed as Culenberg. I have also seen old world's town's named Culemborg

I doubt there is any "Culenberg". It must be a typo.

Helen Spronz was definitely NOT the daughter of my father, Alexander Eulenberg. The name "Alexander" is very popular in the Eulenberg family. It was my father's name, and the name of his grandfather. And, following tradition, the name of my son.

So let's get her name removed from the list of my siblings, and let's find the correct place for this person. She was born, according to these records, March 4, 1859. My father, Alexander Eulenberg, was born in Chicago on Feb 4, 1903. about 44 years later.

My father's parents, John Eulenberg and Esther Rosenthal, were both born in Budapest, Hungary. They came to the US around the turn of the century.

Hi John,

Yes, we will find a correct place. Let's talk on the phone. First of all, I did not merge the families. An expert curator on Geni did, Randy, a very knowledgeable volunteer. Second, I definitely want it correct too. John Eulenberg
