I am seeking information on Margaret Kennedy [or Meg Kennedy or Meg Kennedy Willisone] who is recorded on some family trees as the daughter of the above. Official peerage records however do not record Gilbert Kennedy or his wife Margaret [nee Lyon] as having a daughter. Margaret [or Meg] was born in 1568 and possibly married Thomas Hay [2nd Earl of Park] in 1597.
Any assistance anyone can offer would be appreciated.
Hi Ray
Just to confirm our chats, we have concluded that Gilbert Kennedy, 4th Earl of Cassilis & his wife Margaret Lyon, Marchioness of Glamis are not known to have had any daughters (there is some controversy about their sons, but it seems there were the two only).
The Meg Wilborne you are tracking seems to have been this one:
And apparently she is seen in some trees as (improbably) the Earl's daughter.

Mary's execution took place at Fotheringhay Castle. Pierre de Bourdeille, seigneur de Brantome was a member of the French nobility who accompanied Mary during her internment. He provides us with a sympathetic account of Mary's execution ...
... One of the women then tied the handkerchief over her eyes. The Queen quickly, and with great courage, knelt dawn, showing no signs of faltering. So great was her bravery that all present were moved, and there were few among them that could refrain from tears. In their hearts they condemned themselves far the injustice that was being done. ....
Perhaps daughter of the 3rd Earl according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Kennedy_(courtier) but not so according to http://www.thepeerage.com/p10834.htm#i108335
