My question about this profile is that his birthdate says Farmington, CT. Farmington was settled around 1640.

It should probably be England or Scotland? He is considered the John Clark who arrived on the Elizabeth in 1634.

He is also a man who supposedly fought in the Pequot War of 1637, so that is why I think the date of birth is probably off.

In the Solider's of the Pequot War 1637, there are two John Clark's. One from Hartford, and the other of Wethersfield, I think Sgt. John Clark, of the New Haven Colony is the soldier of Wethersfield. His birthdate is about 1610/2 so the Hartford guy should be about the same or older?

This John Clark, if the dates are correct, is too young to be an original settler and a Pequot War soldier. Could the actual Hartford founder also be John Clark, of Hartford, Saybrook & Milford?

What is the exact date & designation for Original Founder of Hartford?

This part of the quote is garbled up with someone else:

" Prob. came in the 'Elizabeth' from Ipswich Co Suffolk Apr, 1634; was a soldier in the Pequot Wars ...."

But I'm not sure the property designation is wrong.

The John Clark who is a founder of Hartford, who's name is on the Founder's Monument. The one who received a land grant in 1639 on the now Trumbull Street. The one who fought in the Pequot War. I am looking for that person as the founder/proprietor of Hartford, who probably was born around 1600 (+/- 5-10).

It might not be this person that is designated here as John Clark of Hartford, but who is it here on Geni?

Do you know where John Clarke of Cambridge and/or Hartford & Pequot War Hero is here on the site? I am guessing he is a one generation older than this 9th great uncle, by marriage of yours!

Deacon John Clark born in Boston and died in CT. I'm still looking.

Yeah he is a little young, our guy supposedly landed in 1632 and immediately was a freeman and then fought in the 1637 Pequot War. So looking for a 1600-1605 or earlier birthdate and in supposedly Cambridge by 1632 and Hartford by 1635-6, Pequot War by 1637 and Hartford again in 1639 where he received land distributions. Some Court service in 1641, 1642. Sold land in Hartford and then nothing more of Mr. Clark.

Could Mr. Clark be our guy who removed to Saybrook between 1642 to 1647 and died in Milford?

I am wondering if Sgt. John Clark, of the New Haven Colony could be the guy on the Elizabeth in 1634 and John Clark of Hartford, Saybrook, Milford is the guy from Cambridge in 1632?
