This town is in the north of England, quite a distance from the sea. It seems so unusual, yet you must have a good reason for stating it. Can you explain, please?
This is a problem for me because it is illogical (but not impossible).
Immigrants generally left their home and went directly to their destination, a place where, in all likelihood, others of their kind (relatives, especially) were already living. Hence, Germans generally went to Pennsylvania where familiar customs and language prevailed.
More significantly, even if these folks had a layover in England, it would likely be in the south (near a port). Lancashire is in the far north and away from the sea, hence not easily accessible by transportation in the early 1700s. Why would they go there? I find no reference to any German immigration to the Lancashire area.

Hi Jim,

thank you for contacting me for this. You are absolute right, the birthplace Lancastershire UK is not very likely. Anyway, there are contradictory entries in IGI as well as in MyHeritage, e.g.

IGI:

- 1708 Church, Lancashire, , England
- gegen 1708 of Tri Luth Ch, Lancaster, Pennsylvania
( https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:1:MCZH-HVM )

. .. and in MyHeritage ...

... and so on and so on.

Your reasoning is very clear, I assume "Lancaster UK" in these datasets is a mistake, typo, carelessness, ...

Thanks again for point this out!

Best regards
Klaus

Thanks for your quick response and correcting it. Dan Reid is the one who noticed the birthplace and made the comment that I posted. I did notify him about your response. Jim

... then, too, if she was born in Lancaster County, PA, she probably ought not have an 'immigrant ship' profile photo?
