First of all, Katherine Longe, nee Busshell, John's wife, was baptised at Netheravon 21 December 1580.
Although John Longe of Netheravon was thought by the genealogist, Charles Edward Long, to have been the son of Thomas and Joane Long of Semington, this cannot be because he is named as executor in the will of his sister, Jane Dicke of Bradford on Avon in 1646 some years after the death of JL of Netheravon in 1630. In addition this John Longe is described as Clothier in a Quitclaim of 1599 whereas JL of N was consistently described as Farmer.
I do however think it very possible that JL of Netheravon was the son of the younger Thomas Longe of Semington, also son of Henry Longe and Mary Horton, who was husband of Isabella and died in 1591 ( the elder Thomas died in 1593).
John was the eldest son of the younger Thomas and executor of his will. He is almost certainly the John Longe, farmer, who is recorded as having by his wife Jone, children, Ane bapt 15 Apr 1590 and Nicholas, bapt18 Mar1594/5, both at Semington.
Jone w. John, Farmer was buried 3 April 1595 at Semington, and Nicholas s. John and Jone, farmer on 29 Jan 1595/6. The final reference to John Longe, farmer in the Semington registers is the burial of a daughter, Maude on 19 May 1596.
It would be very reasonable that John Longe remarried Katherine Busshell but there is no record of such a marriage that I am aware of, quite probably because there is a gap in the Netheravon registers about this time.
Howver in the Trowbridge registers there is a record of the baptism of John, son of John and Katherine Longe his wife in February 1598/9. It is significant that there is no other reference to John and Katherine in the Trowbridge registers but the two names appear regularly in the Netheravon registers from 1603.
I hope very much this is of interest and assistance.
Regards, William Long.

Just linking in a referenced name: Catherine Longe Katherine Busshell
William, this seems to be good info; however, without links to sources (if any you mention are online), it's difficult to do much more.
At the very least, it seems there is a 2nd Thomas-son of Henry Longe & Mary Horton (Sir Henry Longe, Jr., of Whaddon & Mary Longe, I think) missing on Geni. The existing son Thomas-d-1593 is Thomas Longe, Sr..
I found a MyHeritage tree that matches the wife Joane of 1593-Thomas,, and have added those children. That includes a Jane.
If I read your note correctly, that would make this Jane (Jane Longe) and at least this John (John Longe, Sr.) as children of an as-yet-to-be-created Thomas (as noted 2 paragraphs up).
It would be great if you could help get the appropriate profiles and sources added!
Thanks for providing the info to start this discussion!

Thank you for this reply.
First, to avoid any doubt, The Jane and John I refer to in my second paragraph, were both children of 1593-Thomas and Joane. However this John cannot have been the John Long of Netheravon who married Catherine Busshell.
However 1593-Thomas had a youngest brother, also Thomas who died in 1591, and also had a son, John. The sources for this are the wills of theirparents, Henry Long of Whaddon and his wife Mary, nee Horton. Summaries of these Wills are at Wiltshire and Swindon History centre Ref 947/1669. They are not available on line but I could obtain pdfs. What do I need to do to get this Thomas Long, and his children, added?

William Long.
There are several approaches to getting this area more accurate.
Hopefully some of the other co-managers in this area will offer to help out (hint, hint) ... then, by collaborating (in the formal Geni action of requesting Collaboration) with several of them, y'all can work to sort things out.
Getting the PDF's of the documents would be wonderful; then they can be uploaded and 'cited' against the various profiles referenced in them. (We can have PM's - private messages - about the details of getting that done; can also check the 'Help' and 'Wiki' areas of Geni ... links at the bottom of the Geni windows ... for some info on doing so).
Ideally, William, you'll get your own profile linked into the Geni World Tree and validate the family linkages from your profile all the way into this area (assuming that you are a descendant <grin>).
While you're doing that, though, we can still get those PDFs uploaded and use them to get the profiles added and re-connected properly in this area!
Delighted that you have engaged in helping to make this corner of the World Family Tree better!
