Jaco Strauss:I am contacting you about this profile: Jonker van Makassar, SV/PROG. I see his date of birth is given as "estimated between 1656 and 1716", but as his son Adolph was born around 1718, he himself could not have been born much later than 1700. So perhaps a guestimate off 1670-1700 would be more realistic.

Johann Ahlers: Thank you, Jaco, I think the best way to represent Jaco's estimate in Geni would be to enter his birth as either 'before 1700' or 'between 1670 and 1700' (is this now possible in Geni?) and to add a note in "about" recording Jaco's estimate.

I agree the range 1670 - 1700 looks a lot more sensible for Jonker's birth date. :o)

Certainly does
The "estimated" indicator is what the programme puts in if the date is left blank, and there is enough birth data in the generations around it to suggest a rough possible timespan. I imagine that in this case it's compensating for the "circas" in that surrounding data.

I should be finished with this tree today (baring other distractions) - and then will unlock so you guys can do a data cleanup.
