Hello,
I remember having contact with Lesa Sonnemann Zehner a couple of years ago, which is how I ended up on the Geni webpage.
My dad, Leroy James KIncaid, son of Frank Leslie Kincaid & Norma Deloris Cox....will turn 90yrs old on July 4th! He still pretty much takes care of himself on a daily basis, although he doesn't drive any longer. He still lives in the home he built in the early 1970s.
Dad is constantly sharing short stories about growing up in Wendling, Lane Co., Oregon. When he was 12yrs old, they moved a short distance to Mabel, which is about 5 miles north of the small community of Marcola. He was not a happy little guy about moving away from his friends and especially his grandmother, who he loved and very much respected....Mary Jane McMonagle Kincaid. He said that his grandfather, David Leroy was sick and in bed most of the time he was growing up. Mary is the one person that was called upon if Dad became sick, he would go to her house and stay until he was feeling better....I've always been curious as to why his parents didn't care for him when he was sick, and he doesn't know either.
He was also quite close to his mother's parents, James Travis Cox, & Mary Jane Jones. I do not think it's a coincidence that the street that Dad built his & Mom's home was named "Travis" St. :-)
There are lots more family stories, but I was just thinking about Dad tonight and how well he is doing, that I wanted to write about him. :-)
