I just signed up for a 14-day-trial of Geni-Pro. When I did my search, my heritage came up and asks for me to join that too. If my heritage and geni have combined must I pay for both?

Geni and MyHeritage have not combined, but are owned by the same parent company.

Be aware - MyHeritage Data Subscription is separate from MyHeritage Membership - whether basic or whatever they are calling the one you need to pay for. A MyHeritage Membership is only worth buying if you want to be building a Tree on MyHeritage. The FREE basic membership may be required to buy a Data Subscription - not sure how that goes.

A MyHeritage Data Subscription will work with a Geni Pro membership to allow you to access all those brown Data matches (ie middle section), and to see more info on the green "SmartMatches" -- and for both, be able to confirm or reject them -- a paid MyHeritage Membership in combination with a Geni Pro Membership will not do that!
