In my research on "The Stewart Family of Kentucky", I found that Harry Clark "H.C." Stewart was inspired by the invention of "The Reeper", by Cyrus McCormick, that he invented "The Animal hand clipper". Various models were made by H. C.Stewart & Co., according toward their use from sheep sheering to horse clippers for race horses for the horse racing industry. Later... a model was designed for barbering and the trimming of beards.
More refinements came when models were electrified into many of today's electric clippers and shavers.

Years later, H.C. Stewart & Co., was acquired by The Sunbeam Co. and still continue to make various models based on Harry Clark Stewart's invention.
