@Ronnie Dann-Honor I located a Cook County marriage record for G Battista Rizzo (age 21) and Giovannina Mucia (age 22) on December 22, 1912. I also located a St Philip Benizi marriage record for them and it lists their parents names as well. I will see if i can tie the Rizzos together here. It sounds like you have question about Josephine's parents still, but this marriage record seems to show there is a "John Rizzo and Joanna Muscia" couple that married in Chicago and at least the male was from Altavilla. If this isn't really Josephine's parents we can disconnect that relationship
Private User, Yes it looks like from what I have seen that those two are the parents of Josephine Rizzo who married Tony Oliveri..everything is pretty much matching up...although I'm seeing some minor differences. It looks like the name is actually Muceo nd not Mucia or Muscia...but maybe they ended up using a varied spelling in the USA.
And it looks like there was a brother named Alberto... Take a look again now at what I have added and tied together. I need to take a look again tomorrow and I can probably add in the rest of the Muceo children of Gaspare Muceo and Giuseppa Rizzo. I'm heading to bed now
Now that we have gathered up some of the pieces we can look at them again and make sure they fit.
Do you know how I can research foundlings in Sicily? Philip Cummuta was raised on a farm in Altavillilicia by Loretta arena and rose (Oliveri) who took him from a home with a girl named Sophia But when Philip came to America he used the surname of Cummuta. Sophia married a pano and stayed on the east coast It's all a mystery why he changed from the arena name to Cummuta. Like I said he was a foundling
Great! I think there were certainly some spelling variations with the names but that is typical...
Researching a foundling probably would be difficult I bet! I was reading what is on Philip's pages. Do we even know if that is his real birth date? Do we even know if he is from Altavilla Milicia? Interesting...I haven't had run into a know family story like that personally. I can't think of anything at the moment.
I know you have taken the FamilyFinder test from familytreedna.com. Have any of your male Cummuta relatives taken the yDNA test to see if it closely matches any other surnames?
