I am interested in information on Isaac Schaffer married to Leah Wolensky(sp?) from Lunna and the surrounding Grodno communities. Isaac and his children immigrated to the United States before 1890. Leah had already died when they left. I can't find her name in any database or cemetary listing.

There is also a cousin Berko ( Bernard) Sholtz born in 1887 that lived in Chicago with Isaac. He was also from Grodno.

Did Isaac go by the name Wolk? Were they Cohen's afterwards? I think it may be the same people someone mentioned that their name was shortened to Wolk, then changed to Cohen. did Isaac have a brother named Abraham Cohen or Wolk? Abraham married a Tobie Madnick. They immigrated to NY from either Russia or England. please email me at revans136@live.com

Isaac Schaffer remained as Schaffer, although some of the family changed the spelling to Shaeffer. I don't know anything about Isaac's siblings or parents. I just found out about Leah's last name when I found another death certificate for my grandfather Simon Shaeffer, Isaac's son.
