Hello Geni Geniuses,
So the magician David Blaine has agreed to do a little performance at the Global Family Reunion!
I just checked his Geni connection to me, and it's through an ex-partner of his named Agam Rodberg. I'm wondering if there's any more direct connection? I think he'd be more blown away if it was through someone who is not an ex-partner.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks!

An ex-partner typically shouldn't be connected anyway. Let's see what we can do. :)

David Blaine is crazy awesome! :) The guy blows my mind with his endurance feats and close up illusions.
Here is his profile Unknown Profile

Unknown Profile seems to simply be an ex-girlfriend, so I disconnected her. However, now you have *no* path. So we'll have to work on something new!

Thank you Ashley and Jeff! I'm so thrilled he's coming. Should be fun. And he'll be delighted to be in the family..

Unknown Profile is half-Puerto Rican and his paternal side isn't built at all. Unknown Profile could perhaps assist.

We already have a name dispute going on over David's mother's name. In her property records and phone book entries and on her Social Security records, she went with *Maureen Patrice* (White) Bukalo. However, some trees have her as Patrice Maureen, Patricia Maureen, or Maureen Patricia. Fun! :)

I have locked her as Maureen Patrice for the time being because we can cite that.

I'm not finding much Ancestry on David. :(

@Ashley -- she's as tricky as her son!

Well, the problem does seem to be his mom's lack of parents. You could ask him, perhaps?

His stepfather is from Croatia

Thew records finish at 1879, so without something on his parents hard to go back

Births (Rođeni) 1852-1884 Marriages (Vjenčani) 1852-1886 Deaths (Umrli) 1852-1879

The only information that I've seen on his father, which left him when he was a toddler, was that he was a Vietnam War veteran of half Puerto Rican and half Italian descent.

His mother was Russian Jewish and supposedly her and her mother (David's grandmother) were, raised by Gypsies - so I don't expect they kept good records. I searched for an obituary of his mother, hoping it might describe her past and any living or deceased family members, but never found anything.

So I gave up on David's ancestry and tried to search more on his stepfather, John Bukalo and his fiancée (or ex-fiancée?, not sure if they're still together). Haven't found anything yet. We might also be able to find info on his half-brother, Michael - is he married? If so, maybe we can find a connection through her.

Thanks guys! He is a challenging one. He's definitely still with his fiance -- and they have a kid together, so that gives it some blood ties.
I emailed him yesterday but haven't heard back.

I am guessing the gypsy story is typical magician misdirection, but the names are too common to make much headway without some more clues
